Applications / Food crops / Rice

RICE: Oryza sativa.

Rice belongs to the Poaceae family.
The optimum temperature for rice blooming is 30ºC.
Rice crop demands a lot of water, traditionally by gravity irrigation, although recent studies show results on the viability of applying sprinkling irrigation in rice crops.

By sprinkling irrigation in rice crops, we reduce water consumption, we can cultivate rice in regions where gravity irrigation is impossible, we can avoid expensive works to channel great volumes of irrigation water and, at the same time, we can use the same sprinkling irrigation system to apply phytosanitaries or wash leaves, also we do not use specific machinery to work on mud and we reduce aquifer pollution.

Sprinkling irrigation reduces the tendency to the neutrality of the pH in grounds produced by gravity irrigation, we reduce the spread of insects and so, we reduce the application of insecticides and we remove the use of algicides in rice crops.
