Applications / Agro-industrial crops / Soya

SOYA (Glycine max)
Soya belongs to the Pulse family.
Soya is a plant from a warm-cool climate and best temperatures for a suitable crop are those between 13 and 18ºC.
Optimum temperatures for the development of soya are those between 20 and 30º C, but temperatures near 30º C are the most suitable ones for an ideal development of soya crops.

Soya does not bear an excess of humidity, so the application of irrigation through sprinkling systems is recommended, as with this system the speed of water application is generally slower, avoiding this way the appearance of floods. Sprinkling irrigation in soya crops is similar to the same natural rain talking about application conditions.

A sprinkling irrigation system in a soya plant shows many advantages, as the ones that follow: the possibility to clean the surface from leaves thanks to the irrigation water, improving this way the efficiency of soya crops. Sprinkling irrigation in soya allows us to fight against frosts as well as to reduce the temperature of soya plants, to fight against pests simply with the application of irrigation or even by adding to the sprinkling irrigation water from pesticides to foliar fertilizers.

Sprinkling irrigation in soya crops shows many advantages against other irrigation systems, such as the durability, fiability, maintenance facility, independence on specialized manpower, easiness to storage, cost/ha of sprinkling irrigation, residual sale value and so on.

Soya is not very demanding in soils rich in nutrients, so it is commonly a crop used as an alternative to those grounds not much fertilized that are not available for other crops.

Soya grows in neutral or slightly acid soils. Soya bears a little bit salinity.
