Carrot belongs to the Umbeliferas family and it is a biennial plant. Carrot is a rustic plant whose best productions are achived in warm climates, around 16 and 18ºC, bearing even slight frosts.
The great demand of water in carrot crops needs a correct irrigation, specially in summer crops and moreover in dry soils; for this reason, the choice of an adequate irrigation system is basic to obtain good productions.
Against other irrigation systems, sprinkling system in carrot crops is similar to the natural rain during application conditions. A sprinkling irrigation system in carrots shows also many advantages, such as the following ones: the possibility to wash the leaves thanks to the irrigation, improving this way the efficiency from carrot plants, sprinkling irrigation can also be used to fight against frosts as well as to reduce the temperature from carrot plants and also to fight against pests simply with the application of irrigation or even by adding to the sprinking irrigation water from pesticides to foliar fertilizers.
Sprinkling irrigation in carrot crops shows many advantages against other irrigation systems, such as the durability, fiability, maintenance facility, independence on specialized manpower, easiness to storage, residual sale value and so on.
Carrot is very demanding regarding soils, as it needs clayey and limy soils, well ventilated, cool and rich soils in organic material sufficiently disorganized to enable the correct development of carrot crops.
